Holla
Had a great week in Catalunya this week! We finally did some adventuring in the city and went to Parc Guell for the day with our new Canadian friends/neighbours. We maybe forgot to travel through the park very much, but what we saw was stunning, you can see the entire city from the top. We made a kite, peed in the woods, and on our way home I fell down and brutalized my knee (looks like I'll probably survive). We also loooove our new roommates and all of their swell friends: instant-family, so great. And we discovered the terrace of our building the other day too, so beautiful! I made several promises to come back tanned so I know where I'll be doing my work on sunny days. More to come soon gang, much love,
G

BarcaBlog: Part VII
Big fun in Barcelona this week! Steph and I have moved a few blocks away and are now sharing a room in an apartment with some swell international folks. Cosier than having a whole house to yourself, but it fits our budget better and we have a beautiful balcony in our room, and we're also loving all our new roommates. However, it does have one downside: we're officially on the 3rd floor of the building, but the third floor is actually up five flights of stairs (very NSCAD). I die everytime I get to the apartment
Yesterday, as well as being a delightfully under-advertised Valentine's Day in Barcelona, was also the end of Carnivale. We saw some parades, an outdoor orchestra and lots of confetti and kids dressed up. It's also been one of the coldest weeks we've seen since we arrived, but we're assured the temperature should go up later in Februrary. Lots of artwork happening too, our new room is actually a great workspace.
More to come soon, gang. Much love from Barca!

BarcaBlog: Part VI
Barcelona the beautiful! We still don`t know a lick of Spanish (or Catalan), but we`re getting by alright. We`re meeting so many friendly people. Steph has boots and a print shop, and I`ve started on a few books that I`m really excited about. We need to go out and get some supplies today, but the city shuts down in the middle of the afternoon every day, so we`ll have to wait a bit I guess.
Now that we`re really starting to get into a groove in this city, we`re a lot more comfortable. Time to stop splurging on croissants all the time now though I think.... but they`re just so plentiful!! We`re planning a picnic for some nice day soon, we might rent bikes and go to Gaudi`s Parc Guell for the day. We`re also thinking of visiting the Canary Islands if we can afford it... here`s hoping!

Hola Barcelona!
Ohhh, I love Barcelona! Steph and I finally found a place to live! We're located in the oldest, most beautiful part of Barcelona, Born/Old Town. Our apartment is... cozy? It's pretty teensy, we're sharing an overpriced one-bedroom with no natural light (sleep in much?). But we love it: location location location! We're next doorish to the Picasso Museum and close to the Macba, Las Ramblas, the Mercat de la Bouquerie, and all sorts of fun stuff.
We visited the Macba the other day, terribly inspiring. We're finally to start into our work, and to be honest, it's looking great. This city is a big inspire-o-rama. We might even attempt to meet people soon. We started our audio Spanish lessons too: "Perdre asser la confirmacion de la reservacion para mi para esta noches?" Heck yeah. Steph's the greatest cook, I've never eaten so healthy. Nor have I ever drank so much beer, but it's as cheap as water, so we'll just let it be.
Much love to our friends in Canada! More to come soon!
kisses

Ay Caramba!
Oh, how I wish someone would rent to me! It's turning into more of a hassle than expected: all of the people we've emailed regarding apartments have been scammers! Steph and I have decided to try living apart as it seems to be easier to find housing that way, and also we'll learn Spanish if we're apart (but my heart will ache a lot more).
Nothing interesting to report today as we spent all day inside trying to find a place to live. We finally went out to supper late this evening and got ripped off :(. However, the usual supermarcat prices are excellent: 2L of beer + 1 baguette + 1 box of cookies = 4.74E..... me likey.
Wish us luck in finding a home!

Eurovoyage: Part Three
Happy Haikus from Steph! Truly there isn't much to report today. Our house-hunting continues today as well as boot-shopping and people-watching. We had a swell evening last night with our hostel roommates trading our stories from around the world. God we're cute.
Hope all is well in Canada! Don't forget to mail your member of parliament and express your/my disgust with the proposed proroguement of government activities. They work for us, and it's not a part-time job!
End rant. Much love from Spain,
Genevieve

Eurovoyage: Part One
Steph and I arrived in Spain today after 13 hours in transit. It's the coldest winter Europe has seen in a long time, but it still beats the heck out of the Canadian winter (suckers!). We're pretty low on sleep, but high on life, Spain is beautiful!!! Our hostel is amazing and in the heart of Barcelona. We've spent a little bit of time wandering around (getting lost), and the city has proved itself lovely and welcoming.
We'll go early to bed tonight as we have a lot to do tomorrow, including trying to retrieve the two art cannisters we left at the airport (durrr), shopping for boots for Steph, and finding a place to live! Already we're overcome with how great Barcelona is: we may stay in the country for more time than originally anticipated. Artmaking will commence shortly as well, maybe after a bit more people-watching.
Thanks so much for the well-wishes from everyone and your continued support of this expedition. Check back soon for updates and photos.
Ciao!
